What exactly is a Chausie?
A Chausie is a new breed of cat. It is derived from a wild cat known as the
Jungle Cat (felis Chaus). They are long-legged, long-bodied cats with a
modified wedge head and large ears. Their tail will be anywhere between 3/4
length (reaching only to the hocks) and full length.
Will a Chausie get along with my other pets?
A Chausie, like any other animal, should be introduced to your family,
including furbabies slowly and under supervision. Most animals will need an
adjustment period to accept a new family member.
What will I feed my Chausie?
Always check with your breeder and continue with the diet your new baby
has been fed. A premium, high-quality commercial cat food will give your
Chausie life-long health.

Should I declaw my Chausie?
This is a personal decision that should be carefully considered. Consult with your breeder and
Veterinarian before altering your Chausie in this way. There are numerous ways of "teaching" your Chausie (or any cat) not to scratch your furniture.
Can I let my Chausie outside?
Please don't !! Overlooking the initial cost of your Chausie, think of how you would feel if your baby never
came home one night. There are so many unknowns in the world, it is best to keep a Chausie safe at home. You can easily take him/her outside, supervised.
Can I leash train my Chausie?
If started young, a Chausie will learn to love the great outdoors at the end of a leash. This takes time
and patience - you will get out of your training exactly what you put into it. |
